South America

Ride 2006/2007

January 18
We got an early start today to ensure we'd have enough time to make a good shot at Santiago. I guess we were a little closer than I thought, because we made it all the way to Santiago plus, we got checked in at the BMW shop. My bike wasn't making as much noise this morning as it was yesterday, so I thought I was imagining things. By the time I got to Santiago, I couldn't hear it at all? Anyway, the mechanic rode the bike and said that there is definitely a problem. He said he could break it open in the morning and take a look at the gearbox. We'll see how that goes.

The last two hundred miles today was on an interstate-like road. It was the first we had seen of anything like that and it was comforting considering the potential situation.

Trucks and buses inch across the massive desert. They are either going uphill or downhill

I look forward to going around each corner and topping each hill. There is always new scenery ahead.
