Attention Riders: This is the overall game-plan. (We are a loose-knit group. It is not necessary to stay with the group, we just appreciate it if you advise one of the group members, friend, roommate, etc of your plans as we travel. We want to look-after each other without having to be responsible or controlling of each other. We want to have fun as adults. You are very welcome to stay with me the whole trip or travel as you please.)

We will depart from Brownwood, TX Friday morning, 3/7/08 at 8 am. Plan on having breakfast and fueling up on your own to be ready to depart by 8. Please keep in mind the following checkpoints so we can meet-up down the road if we get separated.

We'll go southwest through Brady and Menard before stopping at Fort McKavett to take a quick break for a cold drink. We'll continue southwest to Sonora for fuel (Sonora is 145 miles from Brownwood. Stop in Menard and get fuel if you can't make the 145 miles). We'll continue southwest through Juno and down to Comstock before turning west. We'll stop at Flatrock Crossing Store for lunch, then continue to Langtry for fuel (120 miles from sonora). Going west will take us to Marathon for our last fuel stop of the day (115 miles), unless you decide to ride around the park. The Big Bend Park has fuel at the Main entrance.. We'll roam around the park for a little while (depending on how you feel) before landing at our hotel in Study Butte. I plan on eating dinner at the Cave in Terlingua Friday night, but we'll make that decision upon arrival.

Saturday morning will be an easy day of as little as 150 miles if you choose. It will be a leisure day. Some of you may choose to go back into the Big Bend Park for further discovery. Some of you may choose to go quickly through Presidio and up to Fort Davis so you can do the Mc Donald observatory and loop. I plan on riding to Lajitas for breakfast, then taking a leisure ride (maybe some photos) to Presidio and crossing the border. My border crossing would only be a brief ride through town and back. (You will need a passport or birth certificate and two photo i.d.'s to return to the states. It won't require anything on the Mexico side to enter. They don't check your paperwork until you get about 15 miles into the country.) Leaving Presidio, I will probably take a leisure ride north to Fort Davis to hang out and enjoy the area. I highly recommend the pie at the local drug store and soda fountain. I'll wait and decide on lunch and dinner as travel dictates.

We'll get up Sunday morning and head home. Please feel free to take any route you choose at any time you choose. I will probably go north on 17 to Pecos, then take I-20 toward home.

We'll be having lunch Friday at Flatrock Crossing Store near Langtry. Easy (the proprietor) said he would fix us up something to fill our belly. It might be BBQ or burritos or something? We just need to call him along the way (432-291-3212) and tell him when we'll be there. His store is on Hwy 90 just before the bridge that crosses the Pecos River near Judge Roy Bean.
